| Up to my.... |
I'm swimming in 11x14s and 16x20s. I made a huge order from a NEW lab a couple of weeks ago, thousands of retail dollars worth of artwork. The event? A gallery show of my pieces (along with other exp-pats) at the Amerika Haus here in Vienna. I'm thrilled and distraught.
Why?
I screwed up the 16x20 canvas order and forgot to order stretcher frames. What on earth are stretcher frames? Well, the things that make it possible to frame canvas. Yeah, the essential part to be able to SHOW the work instead of just store it in a box somewhere. So, I come here to beg the blogging gods to pray for tolerance and mercy upon the perpetually stupid.
***Here's one piece that's included in the show (I'll show more later...they're being published in the next issue of Irreantum and I don't want to spoil the fun of premiering them there).Labels: Phart |

OUCH! Yes, I've often wondered why canvases are sold without frames-- just to make them easy to store? Oh that I were millionaire and could come to your art show! We'd have so much fun together.

You're in a group show?!! Huzzah. I wish I could be there too! Your work needs to be seen!
ugh, have you stretched canvas over a frame before? I can't imaging doing that with a canvas that already has the image printed on. Yeeks.
My local art supply has stretcher frames, and that tool you use to stretch the canvas over them. We're not as big a city as Vienna.

Break a leg! I am thrilled to be the owner of a piece by you. So sorry about all the stretching in your future.

Thanks all. I'm going to risk not having them back in time and send them back to the lab, international overnight both ways...uggg. If we send them tomorrow, I should get them back the Friday before the show. Or maybe not. Major crap.
The problem with trying to stretch them myself is that I can't get 16x20 frames here given that everything is in metric. I guess I could pay to have a lab stretch them here but that would most likely cost more than I could pay AND I don't know if my pigeon German could communicate adequately what I need.
Pretty much all of my options are crummy. Oh well.

Wow, you never cease to amaze me with your abilities and creative projects. Incredible. Did you choose the Miller's lab? I remember now that we switched to H&H because they were better for color balancing and digital prints. Good luck!

I'm sorry about the huge hassle, but you are awesome! I sure wish I could be there to see it. Good luck!

You are so officially 'artist!' Now I'm left to be the lone artist-wanna-be. Let me know how it feels! :) Best of luck on getting them all back in time!
